We have loved our stay here doing many of the trails between the villages. Seeing houses of many colours built on rocks that drop sheer to the sea or perched on hills, terraced slopes on reclaimed land contained by drystone walls. The terraces were used to create space for the cultivation of grape vines, olives and fruit. We have certainly climbed up and down many stone steps!

Isle of Capri
On our last day on the Amalfi Coast we took a ferry to the Isle of Capri and did a small boat tour around the island. We saw interesting land formations, including stalactites and stalagmites. Being in a small boat we were able to go into several grottoes, with the most amazing water colours. I went into the blue grotto in a dinghy in which I had to lie on the bottom as we entered because of the small entrance.

Praiano, Path of the Gods, Pompeii and Vesuvius
We have really enjoyed our stay on the Amalfi coast, walking to different beaches ( not like our great NZ beaches), and enjoying the Italian culture.
We walked a section of the Path of the Gods walk. We began by walking up 1000 steps and walked in total for three hours over mostly rocky terrain but it was enjoyable and well worth it. The visit to Pompeii was amazing. Our day tour also took us to Mt Vesuvius. We walked the last few hundred metres to the crater at the summit and were rewarded with great views of Naples and Sorrento. It was really cold and when we returned to our bus it began to snow!
Sorry, once again I can't see all the photos when posting so can't add captions but am sure you'll work them out.
